Comments? Questions? Concerns? Anyone...

Hey Chicas!
So I have been thinking up a way to change-up this blog.  I know, I know it’s not really that old, then I look at the followers list and it at 10.  Which is better than nothing which is what I started with, but I really want to share my knowledge and tips and tricks, as well as total failures with you guys.  Because, really what good is finding something out good or bad and sharing it.  Why should you all suffer the bads and not ever get to experience the wonderful if I don’t share these things.
So, I have been a little long in figuring out my opinions on items.  And the reasoning behind that is simply that I take a while long long time to make up my mind.  Even if something is wonderful the first try, I don’t want to tell anyone, for a huge fear of having something go wrong with it the next time I use it.  I don’t want to recommend something that I love and have you go and purchase it, then change my mind on it in a few weeks, and never talk or use it again for a look.  That to me doesn’t seem fair.  But if you guys would like to see my first reactions to products and then maybe a follow up consideration after more time......  I dunno really.  I would like to have your opinion.
There are a few items that are pretty easy to determine whether you like or not, such as lip gloss or blush.  After a few days you know whether or not it wears well.  Other items that have more contact with my actual skin seem to take me a lot longer (total understatement).
For those who don’t know me and my skin, I should likely write a little history about it, but for the time being I have very sensitive skin, and can breakout super easily.  So I have a hard time finding creams, cleansers, toners, foundations and even powders that don’t break me out.  My issue lies in trying everything all at once and then not being able to pinpoint the cause of my colossal breakout.  And my breakouts last a few weeks before the skin is no longer inflamed.  Then I have to add one thing back at a time to find the culprit.
So let me know what you’d like to see in this blog, whether you follow me by subscribing or just checking in, let me know.

Thanks, Caitlin xoxo

Natural Grey NARS Palette Look

Hey Chicas!

So, I love using the NARS palettes, and this one is...
And it is concentrated on the left hand side, right next to the blush.  Yup, that's right only two colors to get this fresh faced look.

You know just because you want a neutral look doesn't mean that you have to use browns and taupes, think greys, pale purples, and putty tones.  For blush, look for natural tone, something close to what you would naturally blush (pinch your cheeks if you don't know).

Products used:
Palladio Herbal Eyeshadow Primer
NARS Palette - Opal Natural Puttyish Shade
NARS Palette - Pale Grey Purplish Shade
NARS Palette - White Sparkly Shade
Kirkland Signature Grey Eyeliner
NYX Doll Eye Long Lash Mascara
Blush - Both tones used
Tokyo Milk Lip Balm
MAC Viva Glam Lip Stick - Cyndi Lauper
Rimmel Volume Booster Lip Color - Nude

So I hope that this post will inspire you to look at your current makeup and see how you can mix and match between them and create a look of your own.

My First Swap!

Hey Chicas!

So this was an exciting start to the week, let me tell you!  I finally, and I do mean finally got a package from the states.   It took a ridiculous 5 weeks to come, and my package to the states took less than a week.  Can't quite figure that one out, but soo glad that it came.

I was contacted by a subscriber of my channel, who always was said wonderful and nice things to me about my videos, in doing a swap.  At first I was like well I don't know, but then the more I thought about it the more stupid I would be to not do it!  So she wanted some Annabelle Eyeshadows (can't get in the states) and I wanted something from Walgreens (only in the states) so it worked out wonderfully.

The box, was covered in Hello Kitty stickers which was such a nice gesture, but the best part was it wan't just the face cream I wanted, but other goodies as well!

So for staters the cream...
hasn't broken me out yet, but also haven't seen the results that I was expecting so I'll keep you guys updated
ELF Mascara and MAC Zoom Lash
Paris Hilton Siren, and various perfume testers, which are great to keep in your purse for emergencies
Benefit eyeshadow primer, BareMinerals facial primer, Clinique eye cream, Yes To Carrots Body Butter
Nile File, ELF Natural quad, Lip Shine, two Avon lipstick samples, ELF sharpener, Nivea touch of Flavor
Wet n'Wild T-Shimmer eyeliner, Rimmel Navy Eyeliner
Balmshell - Who's your Caddy?
So I got spoiled and love everything, just wanted to share with you guys that some people are still super nice and generous!

Sally Beauty Supply Haul - YAH!!

Hey Chicas!

So the first time, is always exciting, and Sally's was exciting.  It is located in Moncton NB, and from the location its just across the street from Costco, so if you're in the area totally check it out.

Its open to the public, and the prices are really similar to what I pay at the professional only stores, so there is a plus!

So I picked up a few items, nothing too crazy, but some solid products none-the-less.  I'm just gonna list them below and please watch the video for a more detailed description of the products.

Firstly, I picked up some cute polish colors.  They don't sell Orly where I purchase from on the Island.  I got a purple and a pink.
Purple -  Charged Up
Pink - Elizabeth's Rose

In the background is the
-ion Repair Solution Hair Mask
In the front from left to right
- Palladio Midnight Liquid Eyeliner
- Palladio Lip Ink
  - Orchid
  - Berry
- Palladio Herbal Eyeshadow Primer

And finally the most exciting purchase is the Sally Girl Eyeshadow.  Everyone should have them, I swear!

They are awesome, and when you watch the video you'll see just how cool the single eyeshadow's actually are...creating suspense....hehe. (click on the picture to make it bigger, and see the color names)

Here's the video...

NARS Palette Review - DealExtreme

Hey Chicas!

So I was checking out a new source of some awesome makeup, on the cheap.  And I think that I have found the perfect one.... dealextreme.com.  So the company is based out of China, and has loads of stuff from computers electronics, to clothes and makeup.

Obviously, the website is based out of China, and you have to be your own double checker.  Not everything on the net is what it seems to be.  You need to be diligent and read the reviews and between the lines to ensure you are aware of what it is you are buying.

I read the reviews from lots of products on the site,  not just the items that I wanted to order, to see if anything was horrible off the mark.  So I suggest you do that for yourself as well.  You have to be comfortable when ordering online.  But the awesome thing is that dealextreme uses PayPal, which is the safest way to purchase things on line.  If you don't have an account I would really recommend setting one up, as it is what most sites have as an option for payment.  The also usually have free shipping on most of their items and ship pretty much everywhere.

If you'd rather watch my video for my descriptions of the products click play!

So I had done my research and purchased two "NARS" palettes at $10.77 each.

I purchased one the a more neutral toned with brown shadow, smokey eyeshadow, with a bronzer and a pale peach blush.

The one on the right is a little more vibrant but still totally wearable.  It was more neutral tones in the putty tones, and then purple colors from light to dark, the blush comes in a light pink and a deeper coral pink hue.

The colors are awesome, they blend like a dream, and they do apply the color with a wonderful shimmer, not sparkle, but a nice metallic like finish.  They are great, and the colors in the two section of 4 shadows work wonderfully together, you don't even really have to think about what colors go with what.  There is little fall out, and I love the large mirror that comes with it, great for on the go touch ups.

Now on to more specific issues.  Its says NARS on the boxes and palettes, nowhere on the product description does it state that is is NARS, it does call it a professional palette, but not NARS.  So you can't just blame them for false information.  You just can't assume things.  Now I do not think it is real NARS, but the shadow quality is wonderful, and blend-ability is awesome, so it is good quality product.

The packaging is NARS, whether it is reproduced packaging or repacked I don't know.  It does clip closed well, and it is good quality outer palette.  The sticker on the back of the palettes is the same for both and refers to them as "Night Series", but the boxes refer there only being lipstick inside, which doesn't exist.

The palettes I love and you can do so many looks with them, for $10.77 they are worth way more, the shipping time took about 1 month which is pretty good coming from China.

So if you are interested in getting some more palette check them out.  It is a little hard to find them on the website, their search function isn't that great.
Go to "Home & Office", then to "Health & Beauty" to search though super fun stuff! The palettes and other makeup are not grouped together, so you just pretty much search through.

I had a great experience and would highly recommend them to you guys.

Candles...

Hey Chicas!

I always seem to go through a trend with at home scents.  Once I'm loving the Body Shoppe scented oils...you know the ones you place in a special disk thingy, and put a candle underneath.  Then I'm on to candles...then I'm on to nothing.  But the issue is that I like the scent, but want the look of a candle.  I'm all about the ambiance..hehe.

So I was wondering the isles of Winners, one of my fav places to be!  And I found the best smelling candles, like EVER!  I thought the food was actually in front of my nose.  So for $16 a piece I thought why not?

I got one in Vanilla Glaze, smells more like vanilla and cupcakes, but still freakin' awesome.
The other one is Apple, and boy does it smell, like you just bit in to a big juicy red apple.  Perfect for fall, and I think for spring too!

So after purchasing the candles, I thought I'd so a little stalking, err research on the brand....

In the fall of 2008, Laura Slatkin unveiled the NEST Fragrances Collection, an exquisite collection of twelve scented candles as well as an unsurpassed holiday edition. NEST Fragrances was launched at Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and fine specialty stores worldwide.

So I was like WHA??? I have a candle that Neiman Marcus AND Bergdorf Goodman sold!  OMG I haven't even been  to those stores, but still amazing!

The Nest Line is available through the Project Art Home by Nest at Bed Bath and Beyond for around $20ish. Not too bad right? The candles have just as must scent once lit, and from upstairs I can smell the candle burning on downstairs, that pretty powerful scent. It is a double wick, and 651 g, and boasts a 125 hours of burn time. But I don't know, mine has been lite for a long time on many occasions, and its still not half gone. So it will do ya a good long time.

So I don't know if you are maybe looking for a gift idea, or wanna try it for yourself, but these are awesome!

Spring Fashion on a Budget

Hey Chicas!

So this winter weather sucks ass!!  The snow, and now comes the dreary rain making everything gray mushy slush.  Like, come on enough already.

So in order to pick myself, retail therapyis my cure!  As I'm sure its one of yours too :)

I'm on a budget, so going to the high end shops does not really work well.  So I went to Wal-Mart and Zellers.  Not really the thought process that one normally takes for retail therapy.  But hear me out, Zellers has the Alfred Sung Pure line, with wonderful prices points, and so stylish, wonderful for work and casual wear.  I have quite a few pieces.  Now Wal-Mart has been hit or miss for a while, but with the George line and now the g-21 line, there is usually a hit.  G.21 is a younger line that has some great accessories, and cute casual clothing.

So I purchased a Printed Button Up shirt for $16!  Only 16 bucks, with super cute little blue flowers, very casual and very on-trend for the country chic look.  At Zellers from the Alfred Sung Pure Spring Line 2011 a greyish-tan color asymmetrical sweater for $39. It is a great weight for the spring and summer months, and wonderful price!  Plus that color goes with like everything, it can be dressed up and dressed down, and looks killer belted ;)

Here is a look I wore on the weekend, I just love the two of them together.  Hope this gives you some ideas to put some spring into your life, maybe we can rush it!

Alternative to the Simple Ponytail

Hey Chicas!

I know we can get into a hair rut!  You know wearing your hair the same way all the time.  That usually consists for most women with longer hair, is a pony tail.  As soon as that hair is at the length up it goes.  But just because you want it out of your face, doesn't mean you have to resort to the damn ponytail all the time!

I wore my hair in this hairstyle a lot last summer, my bangs were growing out and my hair was not yet touching my shoulders, and definitely layered.

So don't think that you can't do it your hair is only just this long.....(just excuse the dumb expression.....just a video still to show the length)

It's great because of the twist that is what allows you to pin back your bangs and layers in one smooth look.  The final result is....

See how it looks so much better then the standard pony tail, but it still allows you get up and off your face and neck.  The video below shows you how to do it.  I think it looks like a Classic 40's hairstyle, and when done a little bit more carefully you can really make it look polished for an event!

I hope this gives you an inspiration to change up your hair routine.

Caitlin xoxo
